Today we are talking about seeking God's face. What does that mean? Why do we need to do it? How do we do it?
PLUS, listen in for a big announcement 💗🙏🏽
What does it mean?
Seek God's face means seeking His presence, fixing your eyes on Him, getting to know Him intimately. Seeking God means pursuing Him above anything else in your life! Stop being distracted by the world and shiny object syndrome.
Why do we need to do it?
Because we all have a God-shaped hole in our hearts. We are all searching for something to fill us up but nothing does, even when we get the 'thing' we thought might. It's only God. He is the living water that will no longer leave us thirsting for more. To truly live in wholeness, we have to seek God and live in His will.
HOW?
Information + Application = Transformation
1. Worship: stop worshipping the things of the world and instead, worship our amazing God who created this earth and all of His children!
2. Repent: we've all sinned and will continue to falter, turning from that sin and asking for forgiveness is so important.
3. Rest in His Power: we can't do it on our own, acknowledge that and take some of the pressure off yourself. When things are going well because you're seeking God, don't get prideful and think you can do it on your own willpower because things will go south again and you'll be left wondering what happened.
4. Make time: to seek God you have to be intentional about making time for Him. It doesn't have to be like everyone else, do what works for you to sit and spend time in God's Word. But don't forget, He is with you ALL the time so don't put Him in a box - talk to Him and seek Him always.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:33-34

Today I have the sweet, amazing and wise Erica Wiggenhorn on the podcast! Erica writes Bible studies and teaches biblical principles for life change. She’s passionate about God’s Word and its ability to transform us personally, along with our relationships. Her latest release by Moody Publishers: Letting God Be Enough: Why Striving Keeps You Stuck and How Surrender Sets Your Free examines our fear of inadequacy and how God points His people on a path to freedom by defining their identity and resting in His sufficiency. Instead of leaning on self-reliance and remaining shackled by self doubt, we begin to grasp the goodness and faithfulness of God.
We talked about SO MUCH GOODNESS:
- imposter syndrome
- how we tend to strive instead of surrender
- believing God and demolishing the lies of the enemy with God’s truth
- self-doubt and the tie between self-doubt and self-sufficiency
- trusting God
- how God equips us and we don’t get the glory - it's about Him and His power, not ours
- how we wrestle with the goodness of God’s character
Wanna win Erica's new book? Take a screenshot of this episode and share to your stories or feed and tag me and Erica @ryannechannell and @ericawiggenhorn! Winner will be chosen next Wednesday, July 14!
